Congratulations Michael Baker for 20 Years of Service at JENNMAR Australia.
Mick started with JENNMAR in January 2003 as the Health and Safety Officer and Fabricator at our recently commenced manufacturing operations in Mackay QLD, and has been an integral part of the sustained success of this business. Mick’s generous community spirit is a key element in the outstanding culture that exists at JENNMAR’s Mackay facility. In 2004 Mick’s value and efforts were recognised with his elevation to the position of National Safety and Environmental Manager for JENNMAR Australia with the additional responsibility of Assistant Queensland Manager being added to his role in 2005. Mick’s value to the business was further recognised in 2007 with a 12-month secondment to JENMMAR USA, achieving OSHA certification for the Virginia bolt plant and assisting with the start-up of the new Speciality plant.
Following his return to JENNMAR Australia, Mick has been involved with some milestone events in the business including the Mackay facility relocation to the current site and achieving National ISO certification for Health Safety and Environment. In 2011 Mick travelled to London on behalf of JENNMAR to accept the Anglo American Supplier Safety award for the excellent performance both at the Mackay manufacturing plant and at the Anglo mine sites.
Over the course of his time at JENNMAR Mick has worked selflessly to create an inclusive community spirit throughout the business. Mick’s exceptional work to empower and include people with disability was recognised in 2005 when JENNMAR was nominated for the Prime Minister’s Employer of the Year Award for Inclusion.
In 2019 Micks high standards, work ethic and dedication led to his appointment as Queensland Manager. Mick has since implemented further safety initiatives in the Mackay plant with the introduction of robotic peeling, press soundproofing and improved loading facilities.
